Week 5- Hand vs Digital

CAD (computer aided design) has proven to be a very useful resource, in some ways it easier and more effective than hand drawing. This is because something as simple as colour can change a whole design, with hand drawing it would be time consuming to repeat a sketch using different colour ways, whereas in CAD all it takes is a click of the ‘colour replacement’ tool to alter and choose what colour suits the image best.

However, in some cases hand drawing can produce effects that CAD cannot, drawing by hand is seen as therapeutic and in some cases it is important to be able to feel the textures produced with physical media. CAD can look as though it has layers of texture due to the varied brush strokes offered, yet when it comes to the actually feel of the piece it pales in comparison to an actual textured piece.
