Yoneyama. Y, Cloth & Memory 2, 18th AUGUST 2013, [online image]
This artist, Yoriko Yoneyama, created a web of dried rice that must have taken a very long time to construct, each grain of rice has been threaded to visually create a way to display her memory of cloth. She focus’s on the heritage and how essential supplies that are now overlooked were extrememly important back then. We over look food and clothing, yet they are essential to our survival. The delicacy of the piece demonstrates the importance of ‘food and fibre’ and adds to its value.
