Contemporary Practitioner week 12- task, cloth and memory, Others memories 1

My dad’s memory of cloth differs to the others in that it appeals to the sense of smell rather than touch or sight. He remembers his dad coming home every day, after working as a highly skilled jacquard pattern weaver in Huddersfield wearing his favorite jacket. My dad said that he can always remember his dad’s jacket smelling of grease and oil, yet describing it as a pleasant and homely smell. To this day he says that he can still smell the aroma of his dads (my granddads) jacket when he opens the cellar door, this is where he used to hang it day after day.
