Contemporary Practitioner Week 13- Grayson Perry Task 2

Objects around the home embedded with class values?-

firstly, i instinctively thought of my mum and dads hand crafted pottery set they received as a wedding gift 21 years ago, it is embedded with emotional value and matches, which according to Grayson Perry’s exploration of class means these pieces would not fit into the middle class sector, but could fit into either lower or upper class which is quite strange.

However, we have a range of one off pieces in the form of sculptures from different parts of the world which ‘fit’ well together. These pieces represent a well traveled family but are subtle enough to not be ‘in your face’ which would make them middle class objects according to Grayson Perry’s documentary, yet many objects are valued on there monetary worth which leaves what class they are in open to interpretation.
